Galah’s In Nature

Hopelessly Devoted Galah’s

Galah’s in nature are a pretty sight

I answer the phone to a friend telling me he has some pretty impressive Galah’s in his back yard. Galah’s in nature, yes.  I’m all for a simple miracle, so, I endeavour to take a peak on spec. It’s pretty early in the day, so I look forward to spending some time here, despite not having a packed lunch for this one. About half way up this handsome, old gumtree I spot two Galah’s….what a pretty sight.

The correct terminology for these Galah’s are Eolophus Roseicapilla, also known as the Rose-Breasted Cockatoo.

They are gorgeous, nuzzling together. Hopelessly devoted galah’s they are! I love the restful colour combination of pink, black and grey against the vivid green leaves of this Australian gumtree.

I think I am at the right place at the right time. Firing off a couple of frames, I feel I have already captured a moment between these two love birds. Looking at the LCD camera screen, I see I have another pleasant image here too. It’s an image of only one galah, perched on a single branch. I will display it next time and show you how by altering the composition of one image can make three different images, including three different orientations.

I am always rejuvenated by spending time with wildlife of any kind, however, devoting some time for a little bird watching is none other than fascinating, not to mention amusing! Birds are very interesting creatures to observe and they exude such delightful expressions. Always a great photo opportunity to seize when snuggly galah’s are in full view.

Message from Michelle… sometimes a great photograph means being at the right place at the right time. Beautiful Galah’s…Thanks Robert!
